XMAS & NEW YEAR HOLIDAY BREAK

The last training session for this year will be the Korean Kickboxing class on Friday 23rd December at 7:15pm. The school will then close for the holiday period. First class in 2012 will be on Monday 9th January, beginning with the Junior class at 6pm, followed by the Senior TKD and KKB classes as per normal schedule.

On behalf of Mr McNairn and the Instructors at DMBBA, I would like to wish all students, families and friends a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year. We look forward to training with you in 2012.

NTA NORTH EAST CHALLENGE CUP

Held at Saltire Leisure Centre, Arbroath on Sunday 27th November. This is the annual competition for our group – Northern Taekwon‐Do Academies. This competition will be hosted by Master Wallace, Mr McNairn, Mr Campins, Mr Boydell and Mr Ingram. Entry forms will be available closer to the time via your School Instructors.

Entry forms are available from the Academy office. Entry fee is £20 per competitor and have to be submitted no later than Wednesday 16th. Late entries will cost an extra £5 per competitor.

For those who have never entered a competition or have not done so for a long time, PLEASE REMEMBER that it is essential for you to do so for further promotion (especially at senior grades). This will be the ideal chance for many as it is being held so close to home, so no excuses ‐ get this date in your diary now!!!

TKD SPORT “THE GATHERING” - 10th SEP

The 2nd TKD SPORT “THE GATHERING” is being held on 10th September 2011at the Bells Centre Perth. This is an international competition open to all ITF Taekwon-Do students and also UKTF kickboxers.

The blackbelt events will be run under A.E.T.F rules and sparring gold medal winners will also take 25% of the category entry fee.

GMAC WEST LOTHIAN OPEN - SAT 3rd SEP

The 2nd edition of the West Lothian Open Championships returns this September. The venue will once again be Blackburn Community Centre, West Lothian, with a start time of 9.00am. Doors will open at 8:30 for registration.

This competition is open to all grades, and there will be seperate divisions for Under 9s, 9 – 12 yrs, 13 – 17 yrs, 18 – 35 yrs, and 36 yrs plus.

Anyone interested in competing advise Mr McNairn or an Assistant Instructor for further details.

GMAC TECHNICAL SEMINAR - 6/7th AUG

This August 6^th & 7^th GMAC Taekwon-Do are hosting the Instructors to numerous World & European Champions: Master Jerzy Jedut VII and five-times World Champion and seventeen-times European Champion: Mr. Jarosław Suska VI Degree, an iconic National Team Representative of Poland, and also MKS Lewart Lubartow.

Master Jedut & Mr. Suska will be in Scotland for one weekend only this August. During these seminars they will illustrate their passion for Taekwon-Do through a series of unique strength exercise’s, challenging kicking combinations and interesting methods on how to incorporate effectiveness of technique, control and optimum power from beginning to end.

These seminar’s will be an unforgettable, exciting opportunity for all. We invite all Taekwon-Do practitioners to take part in this fantastic rare event.

Saturday 6th August
 9am to 11am Junior Seminar (under 13 years old) Cost £20
 1pm to 5pm Coloured Belt Seminar (over 13 years) Cost £40

MASTER WALLACE TECHNICAL SEMINAR - SAT 20th AUG

Master Gordon Wallace 7th Degree will be holding a TKD Technical Seminar on Sat 20th August at the Inverbervie Sports Centre, Inverbervie. The seminar is from 1pm- 5pm and the entry fee is £25, great value for 4 hours of training with a reknowned Master.

13yrs and over = All grades 10yrs - 12yrs = 5th kup & above

Master Wallace will be covering most aspects of TKD training, with the main focus on fundamental pattern movement and technical kicking. This is a fantastic opportunity to be taught by an ITF Master who has devoted his life to Taekwon-Do and raising the standards in Scotland.

SCOTIA TKD GOODWILL TOURNAMENT - SAT MAY 21st

Mr Condie lV Degree has invited Montrose TKD students to compete in the 1st Goodwill Scottish Championships 2011. The venue is Grangemouth Sports Complex starting at 9am sharp with demonstrations of TKD. The entry deadline is Monday 16th May, so anyone who wishes to enter must inform a Black Belt at least a week prior to this date and provide all relevant information. Transport may be available by prior arrangement.

Events are Patterns, Sparring, Special Technique and Destruction.

Entry fee per student is £20 for under 18’s and £25 for over 18’s. Spectators are £5 per person (under 10’s free) and a family ticket (4 members) is £15.

ABC KICKBOXING COMPETITION - SUN 8TH MAY 2011

Mr Campins Vl Degree has invited Montrose Kickboxing Students to compete in his inaugural competition on Sunday 8th May 2011. The venue is the Victoria Hall, Ellon and the competition will run from 10am to 2pm. This is open to all Kickboxing students, and the aim is to allow lesser experienced students the chance to spar in a safe, friendly environment. The entry fee is £10 per student payable on the day.

Anybody who wishes to enter please contact any instructor and make them aware. Transport may be available by prior arrangement.

2011 ITF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS - FEB 13th

ITF Scotland held the 2011 Championships at Bellahouston Sports Centre, Glasgow on Sunday 13th February. Three competitors from Montrose; Mr Buchanan, Miss McEwan and Mr Hamilton competed in the 18+ Blackbelt categories for Power, Special Technique and Sparring. Although some of their competition had an advantage of almost a 30 year age difference they all put in a decent performance. Well done to all the competitors!

2010 AWARDS NIGHT - FRIDAY 18th FEB

Following on from the extremely successful 2009 Awards Night in February (was it that long ago?), the 2010 Awards Night is confirmed for Friday 18th February 2011 at the Links Hotel Montrose. The band Pepper Pot are booked again, so be prepared for more outrageous fun and lots of dancing. Tickets are now available from Mr Hamilton or Miss McEwan now. Adults £15 per head and Under 18’s £12 per head. Adults will receive a complimentary drink from the bar upon arrival. Please book now to avoid disappointment.

Once again, the event will be hosted by Mr McNairn, Mr & Mrs Boydell and Mr Ingram, so all schools in the Angus and Mearns areas will be participating.
